Tämä sarjakuva on suunnattu ihmisille, jotka eivät pidä itseään rasistina. Hei eivät vihaa värillisiä ihmisiä, mutta jostain oudosta syystä he käyttävät N-sanaa. Tämä ei ole täydellinen selitys siitä miksi N-sanaa ei saa käyttää, vaan tämä on mahdollisimman yksinkertainen selitys niille, jotka eivät ole koskaan kyseenalaistaneet oikeuttaan käyttää tuota sanaa. Jos haluat miettiä asiaa tarkemmin, lisään loppuun linkkejä parempiin selityksiin mm. sanan kulttuurisesta kontekstista.
This comic is for the people who don't think of themselves as racist. They don't hate people of colour, but they still use the n-word. This is not a perfect explanation why not to use the n-word, but this is as simple explanation as possible, for the people who have never questioned their right to use the word. If you want more information, I'll add links at the bottom but better explanations for example the cultural context of the word.
Lesson about racism.
Hanna-Pirita: I heard this in a train in Seinäjoki.
Person 1: When I was a child I was told I can use the n-word. I don't mean anything bad with it. I have the right to say it.
Hanna-Pirita: Sorry, buyt you've been lied to. You can't say it, it's racist.
Person 1: But I don't mean anything bad by it.
Hanna-Pirita: Oh, really? Pekka told me I can call you an idiot. I don't mean anything bad. (Pekka waving) Person 1: That wasn't fun.
Hanna-Pirita: It isn't. It's the same way how idiot and the n-word are offensive even though you mean no harm...
Person 1: But it's so hard to stop when I was taught this word as a child.
Hanna-Pirita: Yeah and it's hard to learn how to read, but still people learn it. - Just start learning.
Person 1: But they use the word themselves too. Hanna-Pirita: You're not black. - People can decide for themselves what to call themselves. You can't make that decision.
Hanna-Pirita: If you still think you can use the n-word, you're a racist. Person 1: Well I think I have to learn how to talk better. I don't want to be a racist.
Minä olen valkoinen, minä en ole kokenut rasismia. Minä osaan kertoa teille vain pintaraapaisun sellaisen ihmisen näkökulmasta jolle lapsena sanottiin että n-sanaa saa käyttää. Jos todella haluatte ymmärtää asiaa paremmin, kuunnelkaa ihmisiä jotka itse kokevat rasismia. Tässä linkkejä juttuihin joissa on enemmän järkeä kuin minun sarjakuvassani.
I am white, I have not experienced racism. I can tell you only very little about the issue by a person who has been taught to use the n-word when I was a child.
